- Tenders are invited for Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) Community Development Section (Health and Community Directorate) invites submission of competitive tenders, to deliver a local Rural Community Development Support Service to the Community and Voluntary Sector organisations based within the three Rural DEAs of the Council area, Sperrin, Derg and Faughan DEAs. DCSDC is a Council with a large rural population which covers over 1,200 km2. The Rural Needs Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 places a duty on central government and public authorities, including District Councils, to have due regard to rural needs when developing, adopting, implementing or revising policies, strategies and plans and designing and delivering public services. DCSDC is committed to supporting the Community and Voluntary Sector organisations within the three Rural DEA-s, by providing an independent external dedicated Rural Community Development Support Service that compliments Council-s existing Community Development work within the three Rural DEAs, providing additionality and addressing any gaps in provision. DCSDC strives to ensure that Community and Voluntary Sector Groups based within the three Rural DEAs have access to the high quality and accessible Community Development support and advice that will build the capacity of the C and V sector organisations within the three Rural DEAs and maximise the level of funding leveraged into the rural DEAs to support C and V sector organisations....
