Both large-scale ground-mounted, and smaller-scale commercial and domestic rooftop installations are essential to meeting that commitment. This will support decarbonisation, help reduce Britain's reliance of imported fossil fuels, reduce electricity bills for households and businesses, and support job creation. It can also help bring valuable system flexibility, especially when collocated with electric vehicles, heat pumps, and innovative AI enabled batteries ('smart solar' systems).The five-fold ambition for total capacity implies a substantial and sustained level of rooftop deployment over the next decade, implying a significant amount of total investment by households and firms.
