Description : As a newly formed unitary authority , North Yorkshire Council is in the very early stages of producing a Local Plan for the area (excluding the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Parks). The commissioning of a HEDNA is a fundamental part of this process; it is required to inform key decisions on the amount, type and location of housing and economic development needed across North Yorkshire. In order to align with the Council's ambitious plan production timetable - Local Plan 'Issues and Options' consultation scheduled for Q4 2024 - it is anticipated that the commission will commence in April 2024 and should take no longer than 6 months to complete. At this stage, it is envisaged that the Local Plan period would run from 2028 to 2045. The specific requirements of the commission are set out in the sections below.
