Abstract: Anglesey suffers from a lack of traffic free pathways suitable to the needs of the island-s inhabitants. Many communities are only connected by busy roads, leaving residents dependant on cars. In addition, the south of the island is becoming increasingly congested during the tourism season in the summer, placing strain on the island-s infrastructure, while the centre and north of island have somewhat failed to benefit from tourism. The creation of a multiuser, traffic free pathway to connect these communities has been proposed as a means of providing options for people to travel and exercise away from traffic, easing traffic pressure on the south of the island while bringing economic benefits to the centre and to the north.3.3 The creation of a proposed new Anglesey greenway would involve the development of a traffic-free path, co-located within a “linear park” in the form of an adjacent area of habitat restoration and creation, including hedge laying and tree planting. This would support the delivery of direct biodiversity benefits, creating wildlife corridors and linking habitats along the route.
