Description : The Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse was built in 1788 and re-built between 1821 and 1830. The lighthouse (located approximately 16miles south west of Campbelltown) is situated on the edge of an 80m high cliff and is accessed via a steep and twisty single track macadammed road. The private road is approximately 1 mile long and extends from a lockable timber gate, adjacent to a public carpark/turning area at the end of the of the unclassified local authority road. From the access gate at the public carpark, the road drops approximately 280m down to the lighthouse, via a number of tight hairpin bends.
