- Delivery Of Genomics Framework & Resources To Support The Medical Workforce
The Genomics Education Programme (GEP) was established in 2014 following an initial investment from the Department of Health to pump prime genomic education and training activity to support the delivery of the 100,000 Genomes Project. At the beginning of financial year 2018/19 the GEP became part of business as usual within Health Education England (HEE) and in collaboration with NHS England (NHSE) continues to support the newly launched NHS Genomic Medicine Service (GMS). As part of the GMS, new patient pathways are being identified and developed. The GEP has a commitment in Genome UK for 2021/22, which is to ensure that all new graduating doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, allied health professionals, dental and relevant nonclinical staff have a level of awareness and knowledge of genomics that is relevant to their role. To achieve its aims the GEP works closely with a number of stakeholder networks and communities of practice who provide expertise and also aid spread and adoption within their own specialities. Scope of the Contract We require the successful supplier to
• develop a network of tiered multiprofessional genomic champions across the GMS system to support workforce development and interface with other stakeholders
• work with Royal Colleges to influence and inform professional curricula
