    Background to the Programme

    The population of children and young people in Greenwich is diverse, with approximately 65,800 (22%) of the population under the age of 18. The area faces significant deprivation, with many experiencing social, economic, and environmental disadvantages.

    Recent data shows a growing concern regarding the mental health of children and young people in Greenwich, with increasing cases of anxiety, depression, and self-harm. Mental health conditions are the second largest contributor to poor health among residents, profoundly impacting quality of life.

    Evidence has highlighted the potential of a SPA to improve young people-s access to mental health services. By addressing barriers to access, simplifying where to go to get help and making it easier to contact the service directly, a SPA can help more individuals and families access timely support.
