Description : Somerset NHS Foundation Trust are currently progressing a full business case to proceed with their GBP 79.4 million construction project at Musgrove Park hospital, the Phase 2 Surgical Centre.
The Surgical Centre will mean the relocation of General Theatres and ICU from the 1940-s old building and creating a state of the art endoscopy department and sterile services department.
The Surgical Centre is designed with 4 floors, 3 are clinical and 1 is plant. The ground floor will accommodate an endoscopy department with 6 procedure rooms. The first floor will accommodate the Surgical Admission Lounge, 8 operating theatres and associated recovery beds. The second floor will accommodate a 22 bedded ICU.
The enabling works for the build have begun in August.
