Description:
Telford & Wrekin Council wish to commission a Provider to deliver a specialist playscheme to resident children and young people aged 5-17, with high and complex levels of disability.

The Council recognises the importance of delivering a playscheme service to children and young people with a disability during the school holidays. Many children and young people struggle with either the long school holidays or with the change in routine during the shorter holiday periods and this can pose a difficult and stressful time to both them and their families. In addition to this, many of our disabled children and young people find mainstream services are unable to support their needs appropriately and so are excluded from fun, play and social opportunities with their peers.
This specialist playscheme will operate for 4 weeks of the year during the Summer school holidays, 5 hours per day, 10am to 3pm, with an additional training and set up week prior to delivery. The specialist playscheme will be delivered at an appropriate venue that has the facilities required to meet the needs of our children and young people. It shall deliver 30 places per day to CYP with high and complex levels of needs and to a total of 60 children.
The playscheme may also operate as a Department for Education HAF playscheme with the requirement to provide lunch and enriching activities.
