Rutland is a Unitary Authority in England, located in the East Midlands between Leicester and Peterborough, with a population of approximately c40,476 and is the smallest county in England. The county has two market towns Oakham and Uppingham who make up approximately half of the overall population, with 54 villages spread across a rural landscape. The majority of the population (97.1%) are White British and White Irish. With the remainder being Asian, Mixed or Multiple Ethnic Group, Black, and Other Ethnic Group respectively. Rutland has an older population with almost a quarter aged over 65 years, compared to 17.9% nationally.
