Abstract: The requirement for a new GP contractor may arise as a result of the departure of the previous GP contractor providing primary medical services. The development of the DPS is to allow the appropriate process to be put in place to secure a new provider where required in a timely and efficient manner. If NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde wishes to select a new service provider for a practice, the provider must have the capacity and capability to meet the needs of the patients by delivering high quality, patient-centred clinical services in a primary care setting.It is expected that future providers will build on existing best practice, and focus on a community and health and social care approach. The clinical services will be delivered in an environment that provides patient care of a standard consistent with that of similar services provided elsewhere within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
