NMMS Pithead Gantry Checker Plate Replacement Works
The National Mining Museum Scotland invites tenders for the full replacement of the elevated gantry checker plate walkway at the A-listed Lady Victoria Colliery site in Newtongrange, Midlothian.The works include removal of existing steel checker plates, inspection and treatment of supporting steelwork, and installation of new 6mm hot-dip galvanised steel checker plates in accordance with BS EN ISO 1461.The contract period is three weeks from 7 April 2026 to 28 April 2026. The works are funded by Museums Galleries Scotland through the Repair and Adaptation Fund programme.
