Description : The proposed works in this tender are for the removal of all infrastructure and equipment relating to the Digital Global Position System (DGPS) at Butt of Lewis Lighthouse. Butt of Lewis Lighthouse is situated on the most northerly point of mainland Lewis. The station was designed and built by David and Thomas Stevenson in 1862 and has a nominal range of 25 nautical miles. The red brick tower stands 37 metres high, although 52 metres above sea level. Latitude: 58o 31.0' N, Longitude: 06o 15.7' W. The work involved in this project shall be the removal of: •The lattice tower mast •The GRP buildings within the timber stockade fence. •The timber fence in front of the 2 GRP buildings. •The fuel Tank and yellow access platform on top of the engine room.
