- NIE Networks is the electricity Distribution Network Operator(DNO) and transmission network owner in Northern Ireland. NIE Networks have a requirement for the provision of a Voltage discrimination device capable of distinguishing between High Voltage and Low Voltage Paper Insulated Lead Covered (PILC) underground cables. The device must clearly identify to the operator that the cable to be worked is live at Low Voltage or is live at High Voltage or indication that identification of voltage is not possible.
