Abstract: Highlands and Islands Airports Limited (HIAL) operates and manages eleven airports throughout the north of Scotland and plays a vital role in the Scotland-s air transport network. A mixture of Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) provision ensures delivery of the required level of Air Traffic Service (ATS) to support lifeline and commercial air operations.As part of its continuing effort to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of its ATS, HIAL intents to install Flight Information Display (FID) systems at six of its airports operating in uncontrolled airspace (Class G) without conventional ground-based surveillance systems.
