The County Council's Transport Development Control (TDC) team performs this role by providing timely comments on planning applications to the seven planning authorities within the county. The team also responds to a number of pre-application enquiries and, at times, is involved in planning appeals. Partly due to the lack of up-to-date Local Plans in the county, the number of applications and pre-application enquiries the team is consulted on remains high, with around 900 consultations a year.
