Alternative provision (AP) is recognised by the Department for Education (DfE) as, "…education arranged by local authorities for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, would not otherwise receive suitable education; education arranged by schools for pupils on a fixed period exc...outcomes for students/service users include: reduce / eliminate permanent exclusions, reduce fixed term exclusion, re-engagement with learning, improved attendance, improved emotional health and well-being, improved academic attainment and progress and a successful pathway back to mainstream school More... (DfE 2013).The City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking to commission a range of AP providers which drive, support and improve students engagement and inclusion whilst promoting choice and delivering best value for money. The service will consist of alterative educational provision to compliment mainstream academic / curriculum studies. The specialism and educational focus of the services offered will vary dependent on pupils specific needs.
