Description : The requirement is for a real-time q Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) system which will be used to detect presence (and relative quantity) of DNA of particular species within environmental DNA samples, using specific primer/probe combinations. Cefas typically use FAM as the fluorescent dye in the probe. Since the DNA is often present at low quantities, a high degree of sensitivity is required. Also important is the ability to run multiple samples simultaneously to increase sample throughput (hence the requirement for a 96-well machine).
