Capercaillie Reinforcement Feasibility Study - Phase 2
The overall objective for the Capercaillie Reinforcement Feasibility Study is to investigate the feasibility of reinforcing the Scottish capercaillie population with birds from Europe and performing exchanges within the Scottish capercaillie population. This work is broken down into two phases. Phase 1 has been completed, the scope of which was as follows and the link to the final report is available on the ITT brief.1. Develop a set of possible scenarios for reinforcing the UK capercaillie population and the potential risks and benefits of each scenario.2. Review and narrow down the possible scenarios with a group of key stakeholders in a workshop convened by the Cairngorms National Park Authority.3. Produce a final report with recommendations regarding the scenario/s that should be investigated in more detail ecologically, socially, practically and from a disease perspective. This deeper investigation forms Phase 2.
