Bmp1: Bath Central Sunken Boat Removal
As part of its' Better Moorings Project (BMP), Bath & North East Somerset council (B&NES) seek the provision of specialist marine recovery services to remove 5 sunken boats from the central waterway (Pulteney stretch) in Bath.

This follows due diligence with land searches and the respective boat owners. As of 29th August 2024 B&NES considers all sunken boats 'abandoned' and seeks removal of the vessels from the waterway in one continuous activity.

The contract will involve: Removal (Recovery/Salvage - recovery is preferable), Boat Valuations, Transport, Secure Storage (minimum 2 months), and Disposal (preferably achieved through boat sale at the best possible price), otherwise through recycling (wherever possible) and responsible scrappage.

As this activity is a council priority, having a number of associated risks attached, including H&S, damage to property, and occupiers liability, B&NES intends to complete this activity at the earliest possible time (March/April 2025).

Other factors that should be considered and minimised wherever possible are: Ecological and environmental impacts of planned activities, Disturbance to the riverbed, Disruption to river users, and Disruption to local residents.
