• The Contracting Authority is developing a long-term vision for the Redevelopment of Bangor Waterfront. The vision is to turn Bangor into a ‘destination of choice-, as a place to live, work, visit, study and invest, through a series of interconnected developments and experiences along Bangor Waterfront. In partnership with Belfast Region City Deal, the Department for Communities and key stakeholders, Ards and North Down Borough Council is progressing plans to redevelop a 2 mile stretch of Bangor Waterfront between Skippingstone Beach (near Pickie Fun Park) and Banks Lane, Ballyholme to re-establish Bangor as a thriving seaside location and prime visitor attraction in Northern Ireland. The Redevelopment of Bangor Marina and Harbour Wetside Facilities was one of the constituent projects within the Bangor Waterfront Redevelopment programme recommended within the outline business case. Therefore, the services required under this contract are for the design and delivery of the Redeveloped Marina and Harbour Wetside Facilities. Bangor Marina and Harbour is located on the southern shore of Belfast Lough, within the city of Bangor, County Down. Bangor is Northern Ireland-s third largest urban settlement, with an estimated catchment population of approximately 170,000 within a 20-minute drive and around 475,000 within 30 minutes.
