Adult Weight Management
As part of the national obesity strategy, all local authorities are obligated to provide weight management services to their residents. Dorset Council (Public Health Dorset) uses ‘LiveWell Dorset- as the front door to these services - with a specific pathway for those wishing to access weight loss support. The Council is looking to award up to a maximum of three providers who can deliver this service via a framework agreement. (Providers should note that the Council cannot guarantee any level of business to awarded providers as the selection of provider to deliver any service will be the choice of individual service users).Aim of the Service: To support obese adults in Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole to lose, and maintain, 5% of their initial body weight and lead healthy lifestyles, either through face-to-face support or digital methods. This forms an integral part of the weight management pathway offered by LiveWell Dorset (LWD). Objectives of the Service:i. Provide high-quality, evidence-based weight loss support, free of charge to eligible clients who will be referred into the Service by LWDii. Promote sustainable lifestyle changes by addressing eating and activity behaviours and offering follow-up support over the course of a yeariii.
