Glasgow City Council has officially awarded a major IT infrastructure contract to DataVita Limited for the provision of compute and storage services, marking a significant step in the modernisation of the Council’s digital backbone.
The contract, valued at £44.93 million (excluding VAT), was finalised on October 8, 2025, following a competitive procurement process conducted through the Public Contracts Scotland-Tender portal (PCS-T).
Under the reference GCC006191CPU, the contract encompasses the provision, hosting, and management of datacentre, cloud, and storage infrastructure services. DataVita will deliver:
Tier 3 data centre and disaster recovery facilities
Physical and virtual server environments
Scalable cloud-based storage solutions
Backup, restore, and archiving services with immutable backups
Datacentre power management, internal networking, and security firewalls
Connectivity with the Council’s WAN infrastructure
Integration with the Council’s existing Service Integration and Management (SIAM) function
The initial contract term is 69 months, with the potential for extension up to an additional 60 months, making the total possible duration 129 months (nearly 11 years).
Service commencement is scheduled for October 1, 2025, with an implementation and transition period leading up to operational commencement on July 1, 2026.
The estimated total value of the contract, if extended to full duration, is projected to range between £80 million and £110 million.
